Linking IT Systems

Businesses often find that they have a number of different systems which are critical to their business and contain crucial information but cannot easily be linked together to share the information.

For example, a contact management system contains the customers' address but this needs to be re-keyed into the accounts system.

NISL has experience in integrating MS Windows-based applications to help customers’ disparate systems better work together, allowing improved workflow and staff productivity.

  • Automate data input

  • Handle enquiries quicker

  • Automate repetitive tasks (Mail shots etc.)

  • Get software packages to exchange information (e.g. Accounts,  Spreadsheets, etc)

  • Improve reporting

  • Improve links with suppliers & customers

Below are some examples of the work NISL has done in the past:

Case Studies

Pre-processing of customer enquiries

The customer had a customer enquiries database based in Microsoft Access.

The customer enquiries came from a number of sources:-

  • Company Web Site

  • Publications of many different types

- and in a number of forms:-

  • Spreadsheets

  • Delimited Text Files (e.g. comma-separated)

  • Structured Plain Text Files

NISL designed and developed a system where this data was collected and then quickly converted into new enquiries in the customer enquiries database.

This removed the need for time-consuming manual entry of a large number of enquiries into the customer enquiries database. All the sales staff had to do was to collate the enquiries files together and then import the files to the customer enquiries database at the click of a mouse.  The user then reviewed the entry on the database to determine what action needed to be taken.

The system allowed for the user easily to add support for new file formats.
