Application Performance Assessment

Applications written for use with local file or application servers often perform badly when deployed across a wide area network link. This may even be true of the link capacity is large. At NISL we have the experience in analysing applications and assessing their suitability for deployment in the new environment. We can also provide advice on how the applications may be altered to work in this new environment. By analysing an application before it is deployed it is possible to avoid potentially costly changes later.

Case Studies

Applications Assessment Infrastructure installation
The development of tools, processes and procedures to enable a large UK pharmaceutical company to evaluate application performance prior to national and international deployment (Application Profiling). The tools and procedures provide an environment in which applications can be quantifiably evaluated for their impact on existing network users, usability and network capacity requirements. Subsequently retained to manage the service and train suitable internal staff.  Applications assessed included MS Exchange, Desktop conferencing, BPCS, SAP, Peoplesoft and numerous Oracle related applications.

Assessment of the suitability of deploying "Line of business Applications" over a VSAT architecture

The role included defining the clients requirements, identifying suitable suppliers, developing an RFI, subsequent evaluation and identification of a supplier partner. Following the implementation of a working test/development environment by the supplier extensive application profiling was carried out for all the customer's main "Line of business " applications. A final report was delivered which identified all the applications tested and provided capacity estimates and analysis for future deployment.
